Valérie Milot is a rebellious soul harpist who dedicates herself with equal passion to her roles as a performer, producer, teacher, and mother. Whether in the pure tradition of classical music or through innovative productions like Orbis, Valérie aims to make her art accessible.
A sought-after soloist, Valérie has performed with prestigious orchestras in Canada and abroad. These include the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra (under conductors Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Julian Kuerti), Les Violons du Roy (led by Bernard Labadie and Mathieu Lussier), and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Bernard Labadie).
In addition to recording nine albums to date, Valérie has built a solid reputation online. She is known for performances such as her interpretation of Bedrich Smetana's "Die Moldau," which has surpassed one million views on YouTube. She can also be seen playing the electric harp in an adaptation of King Crimson's legendary progressive rock track "Discipline."
As a harp and chamber music professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, among other institutions, she values the special connections she forms with her students, who are at the heart of her priorities.
Recognized by her peers and the public, Valérie has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the Prix d'Europe in 2008, Radio-Canada's Revelation of the Year, and the Young Soloist Prize from the Francophone Public Radio Stations, to name a few.
Valérie plays on a Salvi "Apollonia" harp, owned by patron Roger Dubois and generously loaned by Canimex of Drummondville.
