From haunting acoustic ballads to big band soul rock guaranteed to make you move, Dan Sultan delivers a dynamic live set.
A star that’s been swiftly rising since the release of his second and highly acclaimed album Get Out While You Can, Dan Sultan’s powerhouse performances are reputed to be amongst the most talked about shows in the country. With a voice that is simultaneously sweet and rough, this young front man knows how to turn on a crowd.
Get Out While You Can, the second album by Dan Sultan, is an electrifying romp through rockabilly, blues, country, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll. On the back of its release last November [2009], it instantly earned a coveted spot as radio triple j album of the week and shot to Number 1 on the Independent Australian album charts shortly thereafter. Get Out While You Can remains one of the highest selling independent releases in the country today.
Dan Sultan has won 2 Deadly Awards 2010 (Best Male Artist, Best Single for ‘Letter’), scooped 2 AIR Awards 2010 (Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Blues & Roots Album) and has beaten off some serious competition to take out this countries most prestigious accolades; 2 ARIA awards for Best Blues & Roots Album [‘Get Out While You Can’] and Male Artist of the Year 2010. Dan Sultan is the second indigenous performer to take out this award trifecta (Deadly, AIR & ARIA), the first being the enigmatic Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu.
Early this year, Dan signed a record deal with Liberation and is currently working on a new album in Nashville with acclaimed producer Jacquire King (Of Monsters And Men, Modest Mouse, Tom Waits, Kings Of Leon, Editors). The album is due out early in 2014. In the meantime he has leant his soulful vocals and swinging swagger to Jan Skubiszewski’s new project Way Of The Eagle on the hip shaking heart breaking debut single Rattlesnake plus announced an upcoming national Back To Basics solo tour in October and November. He was also just announced to support Bruce Springsteen for select dates of his 2014 tour.
