Marco Rodrigues, one of the greatest fado singers, was born in Amarante, Portugal. With a career spanning over two decades, his accolades and awards only provide a sliver of all he has accomplished: Nominated for a Latin Grammy Award, and winner of two Grande Noite do Fado Awards, and one Amália Rodrigues Revelation Award. Marco Rodrigues has worked alongside some of his most prestigious peers, talents like Carlos do Carmo; Mariza; Maria Gadú; Boss AC; Fernando Alvim and Mafalda Arnauth.
Marco Rodrigues's fado has been praised by both the international and Portuguese press, and it has been heard in venues throughout Europe, Angola, and Latin America.
A remarkable musical career that has created records such as "Fados da Tristeza Alegre" in 2006, which won the Amália Rodrigues Revelation Award in 2007; “Tantas Lisboas” in 2010; “Entre Tanto” in 2013; and “Fados do Fado” in 2015, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Folk Album. By 2017, "Copo Meio Cheio" included “O Tempo”, a song composed by the outstanding Diogo Piçarra, and gained more than 11 million views, only to become the biggest hit of Marco Rodrigues to date. Also featured on the album was the beautiful single "Amor Em Construção," a duet with Marisa Liz, received widespread acclaim.
2021 has given us his most personal song yet, "Mãe," a tribute to his late loving mother, and has more songs in the works that will be released soon.
Tiago Machado, a long-time collaborator and friend, will produce his upcoming album, which will be released in early 2022. Its first single, "Eu Sou do Roque," written by David Fonseca, is out, and the mesmerizing song taught us that fado can also be danced!
